In a shopping center located on the resort island of Koh Samui, a suicide car bomb killed seven minor injuries, including an Italian young age of twelve.
The explosion occurred Friday night, this very tourist island in the Gulf of Thailand in the south.
According to police, the bomb was placed in a pickup truck parked in the underground parking of the mall. The first elements of the investigation indicate that the vehicle was stolen in Yala province, bordering Malaysia, in the far south of the country, a region crossed by a conflict between security forces and insurgents of ethnic Malay and Muslim.
The explosion occurred the day before a long holiday weekend, and after a fashion show. It could have been many more victims.
