National Front: towards a clash of Marine and Jean-Marie Le Pen

"Jean-Marie Le Pen seems to have entered a downward spiral of strategy of scorched earth and political suicide"

That is apparently total and definitive break between Jean-Marie Le Pen, anyway maybe provocations too much for the founder of the French extreme right movement.

Just last week, Jean-Marie Le Pen said on the radio that "the gas chambers were a detail in the history of the Second World War," of what he said several times since 1987 and for which already sentenced to court sentences.

And in an interview to be published tomorrow he says that "it has never considered Marshal Pétain as a traitor."

The publication of the article is scheduled for tomorrow in the weekly Rivarol far right, called "anti-Semitic rag" by the vice president of the FN and fellow Marine Le Pen, Louis Aliot.

Today, MEP and Chair of the National Front, publicly accused her father to seek him "harm" by "gross provocation".

She said in :

"Its status as honorary president does not allow to take the National Front hostage to such gross provocations whose goal seems to be to harm me but, alas, bear a heavy blow to the whole movement, its officers, its candidates, its members, its voters. "

"Jean-Marie Le Pen seems to have entered a downward spiral of strategy of scorched earth and political suicide."

And concludes that it will oppose during the Political Bureau of the April 17, his candidacy as head of lists for regional elections in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.

Florian Philippot, MEP and Vice-President of the National Front, and personally affected by recent scathing remarks by Jean-Marie Le Pen, wrote on his twitter account:

This is the first time that Marine Le Pen beyond mere condemnation of about his father, who co-founded the FN in 1972, has since increased to arm's length before passing it to his daughter in 2011.

Jean-Marie Le Pen reacted on French radio in the decision to his daughter:

"I answer: A good deed is never forgiven. I think the freedom of thought, freedom of expression are valuable assets and that the National Front must defend them. If he defends not, in fact, is that it is Madame Le Pen, who has to ask the question whether it is useful to the cause it claims to serve. "
