In Germany, the movement Pegida announced the arrival of 30,000 people for its weekly meeting on Monday in Dresden. There was finally a few hundred participants.
If this group has enjoyed rapid success with its debut last fall, draining up to 17 000 ( ), the attraction seems to falter in recent weeks.
Now Pegida seems to want to expand to other European countries. A rally was well organized Pegida this Saturday in London.
And then there was the call of the foot towards the Dutch populist Geert Wilders, expected next Monday in Dresden.
Pegida is a group of extreme right whose name is the German acronym for "patriots Europeans against the Islamisation of the country." It was founded by Lutz Bachmann, a man who made headlines in January by appearing dressed as Hitler ( )
This has caused a wave of indignation. Bachmann then announced his resignation from the presidency of the movement. This did not prevent him from continuing to carry that far-right group.
Pegida organizes every Monday since last fall rallies in Dresden. The cons-demonstrations are also systematically organized.
