40 days after the murder of Nemtsov minute of silence in Moscow


Vandalized twice, yet completely cleaned last Saturday, the place of the murder of Boris Nemtsov has seen hundreds of people gather on Tuesday morning.


Flowers, pictures, candles, little words were deposited on Great Stone Bridge in Moscow, where also Nemtsov was shot four times in the back there are exactly 40 days.


On this occasion, the opposition had called for a minute of silence.


* Five men were arrested by the Russian authorities the week following the assassination. Chechen and Ingush, they were arrested in Ingushetia.

They were charged with "contract killing" on March 31 and a Moscow court has well confirmed the extension of the detention for three of them.

They eventually all pleaded not guilty. *


Background


Former deputy prime minister and outspoken critic of Vladimir Putin, Boris Nemtsov was shot on the night of February 27 to 28 in the city center, in the Kremlin, while he was returning home with his girlfriend.


The following Sunday, thousands of Russians marched in his memory and to denounce "the involvement of Vladimir Putin and Russia in the Ukrainian conflict."
