Raul Castro: no taboo in Cuba-US talks

The Cuban president said he was ready to do away any topic in the dialogue with Washington.

On Wednesday, the heads of state and Cuban American had made the historic announcement of a mutual desire to normalize diplomatic relations between the two countries after 50 years of estrangement.

"In the same way that we have never demanded that the United States change their political system, we will demand respect ours. We are aware of the harsh criticism that President Obama has had to endure because of the opposing forces

the normalization of relations with Cuba, "said Raul Castro.

The Cuban leader also recalled that "basically the end of the economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba, remained to be settled."

This rapprochement with Washington is not at all to the taste of Cuban exiles in the Miami area a few kilometers from the coast of the communist island.

For these some two hundred people present at the event, Barack Obama is a "traitor": "I think what is happening is nothing less than a capitulation of this administration to ensure that democracy reaches Cuba . This is to make concessions to a dictatorship that is not willing to make changes, "complains a journalist, spearheading the fight against Castro.

For representatives of Cuban dissidents, the plan must make a "significant gesture on human rights."
