Rahm Emanuel elected mayor of Chicago


Barack Obama's former arms in the White House won a second four-year term facing Jesus Garcia after a harsh campaign closures background in 50 schools, a record in the United States. Rahm Emanuel won 56% of the vote against 44% for his yet supported by faculty opponent.


"To become mayor of Chicago was the greatest job I've ever had, the best in the world. I humble honor and the opportunity to continue to serve you, this great city and its inhabitants for four more years, "said Rahm Emanuel after his reelection.


There are many challenges including a deficit of the city that has exploded to over one billion euros and also the fight against crime and organized crime.


It was also a test within the Democratic Party between the progressive and the more centrist wing as primary for the 2016 presidential election looming.
