"Quit Delhi" displayed in a last week the Indian daily The Indian Express.
While the Indian capital has become infamous in Beijing stealing his first place of the most polluted city in the world, the government is launching a new index of air quality.
According to a classification of the World Health Organisation, Delhi has the highest degree of concentration "PM2.5". These particles, which measure only 2.5 microns, are particularly harmful.
They infiltrate much more readily in the respiratory system, and increase the risk of chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, or heart disease.
"There is an increasing number of pathologies, observes Dr Pankaj Sya, specialist lung disease, adding it more difficult to stabilize the affected patients.
Set in 10 major cities including New Delhi, the new index of air quality should extend to fifty other localities, also wrapped in thick mist.
With the exception of new regulations for construction sites, any measures to improve air quality, however, was unveiled by the Indian government.
