For Easter, Pope prays against violence in Africa and the Middle East

After chairing the Mass celebrant for the believers of Christ's resurrection, he invited the world to pray for the victims of violence in African countries such as Nigeria, South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. With a special thought for the 148 people, mostly Christians, killed Thursday in Garissa, Kenya by Shebab Islamists.

The pope also urged the international community "not to remain passive to the immense humanitarian tragedy in Syria and Iraq."
