Tikrit: Iraqi Army expected reinforcements

Two days after dansTikrit entrance, Iraqi government forces appear to have halted their assault, even if fighting and explosions were reported in the south of the city.

According to the command center of the army, soldiers and Shiite militiamen received as an order to camp on their positions until reinforcements arrived.

Jihadists control about half of Tikrit. Yesterday, however,

the government showed optimism:

"Given what I've seen and heard the last few hours, I think the situation is very good, I think the release of Tikrit is close, closer than we had calculated" explained Minister Defense.

Friday, nine Iraqi soldiers were killed: three in an attack that failed, led to use a medical school in the jihadists, and six in a suicide car bomb.

The fighters of the Islamic State group called "lies" the progression of Baghdad forces in recent days. They say "unshakable."

But Shiite militias, which support the regular army, are also determined.

In addition, combatants "Peace Brigades" faithful to the influential Shiite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, seem to have taken a stand to support the military offensive. 1500 armed men arrived in the neighboring city of Samara.
