Offensive African armies on Boko Haram

The Nigerian army claims to have killed more than 300 fighters Boko Haram resuming this week the city of Monguno in Borno State in north-east. For its part, the Cameroonian army focuses its attention on Fotokol, the town near the border with Nigeria as Islamist sect had attacked earlier this month.

The staff of the Cameroonian army Belthus Kwene explains that "Fotokol is a key point, because it allows linking West Africa and Central Africa."

Tensions with Boko Haram focus on the border area south of Lake Chad between Nigeria, Chad and Cameroon. The armies of the three countries as well as that of Niger are now directly involved in the fighting against the Nigerian sect that multiplies the attacks two weeks ago. The leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, promises for his part he will do everything to prevent the presidential election scheduled for March 28 in Niger
