New York's Charlie OK

Hundreds of people participated Saturday in a spontaneous demonstration in Washington Square, New York to defend freedom of expression. Most of those present were French expatriates or on holiday but there were also Americans who came to express their solidarity.

"It is an attack against freedom of the press and freedom of expression in general, so I am not necessarily there to support France but to support those values, evidenced by a young woman. It's important to do this not only in France but in all countries. "

"It is a parallel that can be done, quite, it's really 11 September the French" responds a young French.

"I never showed any way, but after seeing on television what happened, I told myself I had to come," said a New Yorker.

Between the tower of Liberty in New York and the Eiffel Tower in Paris, a new joint commitment to freedom must be taken. This was meant Faggo the designer, born in Mexico, who lives in New York for thirty years.

"With my colleagues, we want to answer through our work, we will support that was Charlie Hebdo. Many drawings were made around the world to support and we will continue, "says Faggo.

"Because after the attacks against the Twin Towers in 2001, the question remains: what new political phase will now open in France and Europe?" Concluded the corresponding Euronews in New York, Michela Monte.
