In Ukraine, civilians continue to pay a heavy price for the conflict, especially in Donetsk where a Friday bombing near a cultural center killed six.
Furthermore, fighting raged around the strategic town of Debaltseve controlled by Kiev, where the Ukrainian army would be surrounded by rebels. A few kilometers away, in Svitlodarsk, residents were without water and electricity shelling suite that also destroyed a hospital.
On the diplomatic front, the peace talks could resume this Saturday in Minsk. They had to initially open the day before, but Kiev deplored the absence of the leaders of the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, which were represented by their emissaries. They have accused the Ukrainian government to refuse dialogue and threatened to leave Belarus.
