A Japanese journalist and a Jordanian driver are still in the hands of the Islamic State group, which calls for the release of the Iraqi woman, Sajida al-Rishawi, sentenced to death in 2005 for the attacks in Amman. The jihadists had threatened to execute the Jordanian hostage if they do not get satisfaction. Ultimatum has now expired and the situation seems blocked.
'' We are ready to release Sajida al-Rishawi prisoner in exchange for our driver. But we asked for proof of life of the hostage, we have still not received so far, '' says the spokesman of the Jordanian government.
Protesters gathered Thursday in Amman to demand the release of the hostage and denounce the participation of Jordan to the anti-jihadist international coalition. The young pilot was captured in late December after a raid against the positions of the Islamic State (EI).
