Sergio Mattarella: a Sicilian President of the Italian Republic

Sergio Mattarella is the new president of the Italian Republic. It's a Sicilian, 73, a former Christian Democrat spent at left center. He has repeatedly been a minister and has served 25 years in Parliament before being elected President of Italy. "My thoughts go first and foremost to our citizens who are in trouble and expectations," said the new Italian President elected after the fourth ballot by a majority of electoral votes of both Houses of Parliament. It replaces the former President Giorgio Napolitano, who resigned on January 14 a few months before his 90th birthday. Sergio Mattarella was the head of the Italian government candidate Matteo Renzi, who congratulated his account via tweeter writing "Good job President Mattarella! Long live Italy! "

Sergio Mattarella lives far close to the Quirinale, the presidential palace, where it should be installed in the coming days.
