The Parliamentary Assembly has maintained partially yesterday the suspension of voting rights of the Russian delegation in response to the support provided by Russia to the Ukrainian separatists.
"We informed our colleagues that if our voting rights or the right to be represented in the governing bodies were suspended, even for a short period, the delegation would leave the session and did not participate in the work of the Assembly until the end of 2015, "said the president of the Russian delegation, Alexei Puchkov.
The powers of the Russian delegation were challenged Monday at the opening of the session in 2015 by a British Conservative.
The Assembly also demands the release of Nadia Savchenko, lieutenant of the Ukrainian army detained in Russia, where she is accused of murder. It has since been elected to the Ukrainian parliament and included, as such, in the Ukrainian delegation to Strasbourg with immunity.
