Spain: Catalonia president accuses Madrid of abuse of power

Madrid does not want a consultation on independence in Catalonia, even symbolic. And confirmed yesterday it would appeal to the Constitutional Council. It is this authority that had ruled illegal the self-determination referendum scheduled for November 9th.

Following this ruling, the Catalan authorities had canceled the referendum but hoped that "citizen consultation" is still symbolic place on the same date. Catalan President Artur Más denounced the attitude of the Spanish government: "Not only is it ridiculous, but the central government is evidence of abuse of power. On the abuse of power and law, "he responded.

The account executive Catalan likely do everything to allow a vote on Nov. 9, saying even willing to undertake its own legal proceedings. A tussle over who undertakes, and a gap continues to widen between the two camps.
