The suises voters rejected the three texts, otherwise known as "popular initiatives" that were put to the vote on Sunday, including the text providing for a new limit immigration.
Most voters vote by mail and the internet, so that the counting process is fast enough.
The Swiss have therefore said 'no' to a first text which proposed a removal of tax packages reserved for foreign millionaires. It's a system that allows wealthy foreigners to pay a tax in Switzerland rather than in their home country. The system is maintained.
The second text was planning to repatriate all the gold reserves of the Swiss National Bank. Also rejected a proposal.
Finally, very broadly, voters said no to the initiative called "Ecopop" which aimed to limit immigration in the name of environmental protection.
Immigration is a sensitive issue in Switzerland. The populist SVP calls for a net decrease in migration. Other groups or associations oppose such a restrictive policy.
