Boko Haram denies cease-fire and the release of hostages. In a video obtained yesterday by AFP, the Islamist group accused the Nigerian government of lying when the latter had announced in mid-October, have reached an agreement with Boko Haram.
The leader of the Islamist group, Abubakar Shekau, also says that 219 schoolgirls abducted last April in Chibok in north-eastern Nigeria, were all converted to Islam and married. This is the first time he mentions their fate, even though it is not known where and when the video was shot.
According to a Human Rights Watch report released this week, Boko Haram holds more than 500 women and girls.
Shekau also said to have a German citizen abducted in July also in the northeast.
The Nigerian government continues to assert its side that talks are underway in neighboring Chad.
