Avian flu: H5N8 strain confirmed in England


The strain of bird flu detected in a duck farm in the north of England is the type of H5N8. This is what the British authorities confirmed Tuesday. So this is indeed the same strain as that already identified in poultry in northern Germany and the Netherlands.


Dice Sunday as a precautionary measure, this farm in Yorkshire was quarantine and slaughter its 6,000 ducks was ordered. The health authorities of the country show reassuring. According to them, the risk of transmission to humans is low. Experts believe the virus, hitherto confined to Asia, traveled to Europe through migratory birds.
