Mourning in Ukraine after the death of 33 miners in the East


Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko declared a national day of mourning following the death of 33 miners near Donetsk, in an area controlled by pro-Russian separatists. All the bodies were brought to the surface, according to local government, which refused the help of rescue workers sent by the government in Kiev.


Despite the tragedy, work continued on Thursday in the coal mine Zassiadko, struck yesterday by a gas explosion, an explosion accidental gas, while more than 200 men were under the surface. Most of them were saved. In 2007, a similar accident had three times more victims.


The leaders of the mine have confirmed that gas explosion had no connection with the current conflict in the east.
