In Turkey, a prosecutor is currently held hostage in Istanbul by members of an extreme left group.
This group called "Revolutionary Party-Front for the Liberation of the People" (DHKP -C) released photos that the prosecutor is sitting with a gun to his head.
The kidnappers threatened to kill the judge if the Turkish police did not recognize its responsibility in the death of a protester last year.
Berkin Elvan is this teenager who was shot in the head during anti-government demonstration. He succumbed to his injuries after several months in a coma. ( ). This drama has become a symbol of repression by the Turkish authorities.
Now it is the Istanbul prosecutor investigating the case.
Large police forces are deployed around the courthouse where held hostage taking.
The Prime Minister convened a crisis meeting with the Ministers of Interior and Justice.
