IMF approves new aid plan in Kiev


The International Monetary Fund, IMF, has given the green light Wednesday to an aid package of $ 17.5 billion for Ukraine, or 16.5 billion euros. An "ambitious program that involves risks including from the conflict in the east of the country," said Christine Lagarde, the boss of the IMF.


Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, said that this program would allow growth of the Ukrainian economy from 2016.


For his part, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko who received Swedish officials including Prime Minister Stefan Löfven announced that Sweden would provide a loan of $ 100 million to Ukraine. "We must and we will support Ukraine, because it is important to keep this hope for change," said Stefan Löfven.
