Japan appalled by the beheading of Kenji Goto

The plight of the journalist was staged and filmed by the Islamic State. This is the second Japanese national killed in Syria. Kenji Goto had gone in search of the first Japanese hostage before being himself captured by the Islamic state.

According to the mother of Kenji Goto, Junko Ishido his son was deeply peaceful.

"He always had the hope of a world without war, save the children of war and poverty," she has said the voice broken by sobs. "I promise here to continue his legacy with, I hope, for your support."

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe speaks of a "despicable act" and provides that "Japan is committed to take responsibility (...) to fight terrorism."

The Islamic State threatens to assassinate the Jordanian driver, al-Maaz Kassabeh, captured in December after the crash of his F-16.
