In Germany, a new anti-Islam demonstration was attended by about 1,500 people Friday evening in Leipzig. But the movement seems to be over. There are ten days, a similar gathering in this city of the former GDR had attracted more than 15,000 demonstrators.
A large police presence was deployed to prevent clashes with protesters against-who were, themselves, much larger: about 5,000, according to local authorities. They braved the cold to shout their opposition to Legida, declination in Leipzig Pegida movement, which has spread to several cities in Germany, but has been weakened in recent days by the resignation of several of its leaders.
This event resulted in several clashes with security forces. Two fire starts were also identified in the regional rail network.
