After preliminary analysis of the black box, the Indonesian National Transportation Safety Board revealed Wednesday that the French co-pilot was at the controls of the Airbus A320-200 when the aircraft crashed into the sea Java on 28 December.
Shortly after takeoff, the plane had asked to gain altitude to avoid very threatening clouds, but had not received immediate green light from air traffic control because of too much traffic in the area. The Airbus and its 162 passengers had disappeared from radar shortly after.
The family of the French co-driver Emanuele Rémi Plesel complained Tuesday in Paris against the company for endangering the lives of others, based on the fact that AirAsia Indonesia had no flight acceptance the connection between Surabaya and Singapore on the day of the crash.
So far, divers have recovered 72 bodies and research will still continue, although the Indonesian army withdrew back the rest of the fuselage, too damaged.
