Rio de Janeiro celebrates its 450th anniversary in the presence of President Dilma Rousseff and Mayor Eduardo Paes. It's officially on 1 March 1565 the Portuguese colonists founded the city. They had believed at the time to discover a river flowing into the Atlantic, hence the name "River of January" in French.
