Moscow suspended its activities related to Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe


Russia suspends its activities related to the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE). The announcement was made Tuesday via a press release on the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


In this statement, we learn that Moscow stop attending meetings of the advisory group from Wednesday. NATO is also accused of failing to comply with the rules of the Treaty.


Signed in November 1990 by members of the Atlantic Alliance and the Warsaw Pact, the treaty was staring at a level decreased the amount of weapons and conventional forces. It also aimed to replace military confrontation with a new pattern of security relations based on peaceful cooperation.
