"The bloodbath lasted for over 30 years. Enough is enough, people want peace."
Last night, the imprisoned leader of the PKK, Abdullah Ocalan, called his movement to disarm in a letter read by the HDP, the People's Democratic Party, attended by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister.
The latter, Yalcin Akdogan, hoped that the PKK organizes an extraordinary congress on disarming the spring.
The HDP shuttled between prison where Abdullah Öcalan is imprisoned for life and military leaders of the PKK before making public this call.
Ankara, which has always regarded the PKK as a terrorist group, today welcomes this progress.
In the streets of Dyiarbakir city in Kurdish majority, more than 850 000 inhabitants in the south-east of the country, we gladly welcomes the call to PKK disarmament:
"We are pleased that speech. Disarmament is more at this stage. The bloodbath lasted for over 30 years. Enough is enough, people want peace. "
"I think both sides are sincere, I hope they laissront down their arms."
"It would be so nice if the weapons were left behind, peace would prevail and everyone would live in peace and it would create job opportunities."
Besides the call to disarm his troops launched, Öcalan has listed in his message a series of 10 measures in his eyes for a lasting peace in Turkey, including the drafting of a new constitution.
The Turkish government wanted to accelerate the peace process with the PKK before the general elections on 7 June.
