Passage 2015: Around the World in pictures of the festivities

Capitals around the world celebrated as it should transition to the new year. In London, for the first time, the event was paying. To watch the fireworks over the Thames, we had a seat at ten pounds. The aim was to limit the number of viewers for safety reasons.

In Paris, a video was projected on the Arc de Triomphe, first with the theme the Parisian lifestyle and environmental issues, as the French capital will host at the end of the international conference on climate.

In Amsterdam, music and fireworks were also at the meeting.

Japan was one of the first countries to celebrate the transition to the new. In Tokyo, three million visitors visited the Meiji Jingu Shrine, the most visited place of worship in the city.

A Sydney, Australia, fireworks were fired from the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The transition to 2015 took place without incident despite fears of terrorist attacks after a deadly hostage there for a fortnight.
