New York: prayer vigil for one of the murdered police

Last respects for New York police officers killed in the street.

Hundreds of people converged on a church in Queens for a prayer vigil.

The coffin of Rafael Ramos, 40, covered with the green flag, white and blue of the New York police, arrived carried by six policemen in uniform.

Married and father of two son, Rafael Ramos was killed in broad daylight by December 20 balls with his colleague Liu Wenjian in their company car parked in Brooklyn.

The double murder by a deranged 28 year old who then killed himself on a subway platform, has shocked the city and its 35,000 police officers.

The assassin of the two policemen had previously announced his intentions on Instagram, was linked to the deaths of two blacks, Eric Garner and Mike Brown recently killed by police in New York and Ferguson.

Vice President Joe Biden, New York mayor, chief Bill Bratton police and thousands of police officers must attend his funeral. About 670 police officers will be sent to all United States by Jet Blue airline, which had offered its services to those wishing to attend the funeral.
