The song "When a man loves a woman" was the first single from the career of Percy Sledge in 1966.
Soon the top of the charts in the US, it is still considered one of the great titles of soul music.
Percy Sledge, today is gone, at age 73, after a long battle against liver cancer. He died at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was born in Leighton, Alabama.
At the time he wrote the worldwide hit, Percy Sledge had lost both his construction job and his girlfriend party in Los Angeles.
His career had continued success with other subtitles like "Warm and Tender Love" or "It tears me up."
Percy Sledge had received an award for lifetime achievement from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation and entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
