Peace in Ukraine is currently negotiating in Minsk. The capital of Belarus is the scene of a crucial summit with the presidents of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Russian Vladimir Putin, French François Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
According to sources there, the four leaders would be willing to sign a joint statement reaffirming the sovereignty of Ukraine and its territorial integrity - this is a recurring request from Kiev.
That said, the big chunk of those negotiations is the establishment of a cease-fire, and the conditions for such a cease-fire.
One remembers a truce was concluded, here in Minsk in September but this truce was never respected.
Today, the stakes are high: to agree to silence the weapons, after 10 months of a conflict that has claimed more than 5,000 lives.
In case of failure of the negotiations in Minsk, the Europeans plan to adopt new sanctions against Russia, which they accuse of supporting the separatists.
