Putin and Poroshenko have an appointment on Wednesday in Minsk

A meeting of the utmost importance to be held on Wednesday in Minsk, Belarus. It will bring together around Angela Merkel and François Hollande, the Russian and Ukrainian presidents, as well as all the signatories of September Minsk agreements. The four leaders discussed this morning by telephone to discuss the Franco-German peace plan for eastern Ukraine.

This plan would provide greater autonomy rebel regions and a demilitarized zone of 50 to 70 kilometers wide along the front line. But many questions remain, including the status of the territories conquered by the separatists, border control or the withdrawal of heavy weapons.
