No vaccine, no family allowances in Australia

The Australian government wants to deprive allowances parents who do not vaccinate their children. The Prime Minister announced this Sunday to face the resurgence of certain diseases.

Currently, parents can refuse to vaccinate their children, claiming a right of "conscientious objection" while continuing to receive a series of benefits.

"People can, if they wish, to refuse to have their children vaccinated, but if they do not do it for religious or medical reasons, they do not have the right to benefits or medical reimbursements for their children. `No bite, no money 'This is the policy of this government. This is an important public health measure. It is very important that our families and our children are as safe as possible, "said Tony Abbott.

In Australia, nearly 40 000 children under seven are not vaccinated, or 24 000 more than a decade ago. Concerned parents are concerned that vaccination against measles, mumps and rubella vaccine does not cause autism. This fear, scientifically disproved, was taken over by the British medical press in the late 1990s.
