Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari elected president (Official)

Scene of jubilation broke out in Nigeria after the victory of Muhammadu Buhari in the presidential election. According to official results, the former coup leader, a Muslim from the north, won the election with about 2.5 million votes ahead of incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan, a southern Christian. This is the first democratic change in Nigeria since the end of military rule there are sixteen.


'' President Jonathan was an opponent of value. I hold out the hand of fellowship. I meet very soon to organize the transition of power, '' said Muhammadu Buhari.


Muhammadu Buhari is the winner in 21 of the 36 states of Nigeria. His rival, Goodluck Jonathan, has conceded defeat and called on his supporters for calm: "I thank you for your support. Today, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) should celebrate rather than being in mourning. We have left a legacy, democratic freedom, transparency, economic growth and free and fair elections. ''


The announcement of the results has resulted as yet no major violence. The previous poll, there are four years old, who already opposed the two men had ended in clashes that had about 800 dead.
