Shebab attack against a Mogadishu hotel

At least ten people were killed in Somalia in an attack by al-Shabaab, according to a provisional toll.

They targeted a Mogadishu hotel, killing including Somali ambassador in Switzerland.

The five attackers were killed by Somali special forces, according to the authorities.

The attack began with a loud explosion followed by gunfire inside the building.

Hotel Maka al Mukarama is often frequented by politicians and businessmen of the country.

Somali Islamist insurgents are at war against the authorities for more than two decades.

But in recent years, they have been dislodged from their strongholds in central and southern Iraq, by the force of the African Union.

So they multiply terrorist attacks in Somalia but also outside the borders of the country.
