Parades were organized on Wednesday in Tehran and all major Iranian cities to mark the 36th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
As every year, these gatherings were an opportunity to manifest hostility vis-à-vis the United States and Israel, considered enemies of the regime.
In his speech, President Hassan Rohani stressed the importance of Iran in the fight against terrorism, whether in Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
He also discussed the nuclear issue, subject to a tug-of-iron with Westerners. Discussions have, so far, been unsuccessful. "It is not the sanctions that will force us to sit at the negotiating table, he launched. Iran is willing to negotiate to move forward and to help bring peace and stability in the region and in the world. "
On February 11, 1979 is the date that dedicates the victory of the Revolution in Iran, with the end of the Shah's regime and the coming to power of the Ayatollah Khomeini. A few months later, protesters attacked the US embassy in Tehran to protest Washington's decision to host the Shah on American soil. Since then, relations between the two countries are broken.
