The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution on the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine. It calls on Russia to immediately stop its funding of separatist and release several political prisoners including a Ukrainian pilot and a member of Parliament who are illegally detained in Russia.
A position reiterated by British MP Jim Sheridan who again called for an end to the conflict and an end to the involvement of Russia under financial forms, political and military in order to also end the humanitarian crisis. "
In Ukraine, the parliament of Kiev has also talks tough. MEPs adopted a resolution calling Russia an "aggressor State" and "terrorist organizations" pro-Russian separatist republics of the country after the attack on Saturday in Mariupol, where 30 civilians were killed in a bombardment. The latter was launched from areas controlled by rebels, according to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
The resolution of the Ukrainian Parliament also called on the West to strengthen sanctions against Moscow.
