Unique and deadly floods in Morocco

The fury of torrents is exceptional: in Morocco, the terrible floods of recent days have 32 dead and six missing. They hit southern Morocco, near the Sahara, where most of the victims were swept away by wadis, rivers in spate. This is the Guelmim area, about 200 km south of Agadir, which is the most affected, with at least 24 dead. Tourist regions of Ouarzazate and, to a lesser degree, Marrakech, are also concerned. Dozens of traditional adobe houses were destroyed, the cattle away. The Royal Palace will be "in charge of the funeral expenses of the victims, as well as the cost of the care of the wounded." The Spanish government provides "emergency aid as part of military cooperation."
